How do you burn a program (like photoshop or final cut pro) on a dvd/Cd on a mac?
I want to burn a few of my programs on discs so if i switch computers I won’t lose them. How do I do this on a macintosh computer? What kind of programs do I need?
It’s not as simple as copying the apps from your Applications folder, when you install software it installs many components all over your hard drive including in the system folder. You need all these separate items for a program to run.
When you get a new computer, provided the hard drive in your old computer is operational, use Migration Assistant when setting up your new computer to copy your settings to the new computer.
You can also use Time Machine to a removable hard drive to make a copy of your hard drive that you can restore to a chosen point or use Disk Utility to make a Disk Image (do this from system installer disk rather than from the Applications folder).
